A ladies group operates a popular restaurant in the house to preserve it. They serve lunch only, and only on weekdays. The interior has a lot of the original furnishings and photographs, so it is easy to visualize the scenes in East of Eden that took place in the Trask house. Some of these engaged the Chinese cook in philosophical inquiries, if I remember correctly. All of the photographs were taken within a 6 or 8 block area, and the small Chinatown was also within that radius.
